Ruth Belle Futrell Cannon, 92, of Roanoke Rapids, passed away on Sunday, July 7, 2024 in ECU North Hospital.
Mrs. Cannon was born on December 12, 1931, in Conway, NC, the daughter of the late Pearlie Wheeler Cushion and James Clyde Futrell.
She was the widow of the late Cecil J. Cannon and was also preceded by her grandson Andrew Lyle.
Ruth was a member of East 10th Street Christian Church, where she loved her church family. She put God first in every aspect of her life.

She raised her daughters after Cecil passed and has always been there for her girls.
She loved watching the blue birds, hummingbirds, her cat Kitty Bell, and riding her bicycle.
She never met a stranger, was always willing to help people, and people always gravitated to her.
Surviving include her daughters: Lisa C. Hammack (Tim) of Roanoke Rapids and Cheryl Lucas (Gwynn) of Pellum, NC; her sister Ruby Lee Floyd (Wilbur) of Roanoke Rapids, and her granddaughter Skylar Turner (Adam).
A Funeral Service will be held at 2:00 PM on Thursday, July 11, 2024 in East 10th Street Christian Church with Pastor Jason Yeatts officiating.
Burial will follow in James Square Baptist Church Cemetery.
The family will receive friends from 6:00 – 8:00 PM on Wednesday, July 10, 2024 at Hockaday Funeral & Cremation Service.
