Ruby Westbrook Howard, 82, went to be with her Lord and Savior on Sunday April 20, 2025.  She is preceded in death by her husband, James Odell Howard, brother Johnnie Westbrook, Jr. and sister Polly Westbrook Odom.

She is survived by son David James Howard (Shannon) and daughter Susan Howard Kennedy (Jay), and grandchildren, Alexis Grace Howard, Chase Alexander Howard, Andrew Joseph Kennedy, Justin Everett Kennedy, Morgan Jean Kennedy, and sister Shirley Westbrook Jones. 

Ruby was a member of Rosemary United Methodist Church. She enjoyed being a member of the UMW circle.

She graduated from Pink Hill High School where she played basketball. She had a legendary jump shot. She was a huge Elvis Presley fan and enjoyed dancing to her favorite songs.  She was a fabulous cook and loved trying new recipes.  She loved her family and friends, especially keeping up with the grandchildren.

Ruby worked as the Assistant Librarian at Roanoke Rapids High School.  She loved helping students and having summer lunch with her coworkers. 

A visitation will be held at Wrenn Funeral Home on Thursday, April 24, 2025 from 6:00pm to 8:00pm. 

A funeral service will be held on Friday, April 25, 2025 at Wrenn Funeral Home Chapel starting at 11:00am with Pastor Matthew Reider officiating.  

Burial to follow at Cedarwood Cemetery.
