A virtuous servant of God who embodied grace and love to all, Rebecca Etheridge “Becky” Wrenn, 80, entered her eternal home on May 10, 2026.
Becky was born in Halifax County and was one of twelve children born to a loving family.
Becky was a caretaker of many, known as the neighborhood Mom, and Maw Maw Becky. She loved to watch a snowfall and would mention how the pureness of it would remind her how she felt God would wash away our dirty sins to make us whole and pure again one day.

She was also an avid bird watcher, and of course, she fed them — whether they were in the wild or ones she adopted and kept in her home.
Becky lived a full life exemplifying how Christ can work through our actions. Born with a servant’s heart, she stayed busy giving of herself through selfless acts that would reflect God’s love to others. Whether teaching Sunday School, leading a Girl Scout Troop, rocking babies to sleep, or filling bellies with her cooking, Becky enjoyed serving others.
In addition to her late parents, Clyde and Margaret Etheridge, Becky was preceded in death by the father of her three children, Ivey “Bud” Wrenn, Sr.; her oldest daughter, Angela Wrenn Grizzard; and her siblings, Thomas Etheridge, Sylvia Moseley, Mary Byrd, James “Jimmy” Etheridge, Sherwood Etheridge, Hazel Doyle, Dorothy Wallace, Billy Etheridge, Donald Etheridge, and Gloria Lassiter.
Becky is survived by her husband of four years, John Bartus, Sr.; one sister, Nancy Borntrager of Raleigh; one sister-in-law, Peggy Etheridge of Wilmington; her only son, Ivey “Buddy” Wrenn, Jr.; daughter, Jenniffer Wrenn Lewis (Ken); son-in-law, Keith Grizzard; followed by six grandsons and seven granddaughters that she cherished; and many nieces and nephews that she also loved dearly.
Until we meet again, Becky will be remembered by her selfless acts of love and caring for anyone with whom she interfaced. Her thoughts were not of material things but were focused on pointing hearts and minds to Jesus Christ. She was truly one in a million and will be missed beyond comprehension by those she left behind.
Funeral Services for Becky will be held at 4 pm on Sunday, May 17, 2026, in the chapel of Wrenn Funeral Home, 1015 West 5th St. Roanoke Rapids.
The family will receive friends in the parlor of Wrenn Funeral Home from 2 pm until service time. Interment will be private.
