Carl Melvin Burnette, 88 of Gaston, NC, died Thursday, November 21, 2019, at Northampton Nursing and Rehabilitation Center, Jackson, NC.

Mr. Burnette was born in Northampton County, NC, the son of the late James Leslie Burnette and Mertie Camp Burnette. He was also preceded in death by his wife Muriel Claiborne Burnette, two sisters, Catherine Clements and Marie Tudor and two brothers, Eugene Burnett and Cirven Burnette.

Mr. Burnette, was employed for many years With Stokes Distributing Company and retired from the North Carolina Department of Transportation.

Surviving are his sister Shirley B. Acree of Roanoke Rapids, NC and numerous nieces and nephews.

Graveside services will be held Tuesday, November 26, 2019, at 2:00 PM, in Crestview Memorial Cemetery, with Rev. Randy Martin officiating. The family will receive following the service.
