It is with deep sadness that we announce Mrs. Connie Moore Brooks, 74, of Gaston, was called home to her Lord on Tuesday, August 4, 2026.

Connie was born at Roanoke Rapids Hospital on June 12, 1952, to the late Melvin and Gracie Moore, and grew up in Emporia.

After completing high school, she went on to obtain her Cosmetology Certification from Halifax Community College.

Connie had varied interests and enjoyed spending time taking care of her friendly, outdoor cats. A true cat lover, she enjoyed feeding them and laughing while she adored their cat antics, especially the kittens as they grew.

Connie also dedicated time every Wednesday to her close knit group of friends who would stake their claim at the local Cracker Barrel.

She loved to update her home décor, and change things up a bit when something new caught her eye, while adding figurines or a wide variety of intricate things she collected through the years. Connie was very creative and was also known for her holiday spirit that she would share with others.

In addition to her parents, Connie is also preceded in death by her sister, Hazel Faye Conway; and brothers, James Russell Moore, Sr., and Gilbert Wilson Moore.

Connie leaves to cherish her memory her loving husband of 33 years, Ronald; daughter, Paula Copeland; son, Brian Smith, Sr.; bonus children, Bobby Brooks (Julie), Donnie Kemler (Doreen); grandchildren, Chase, Tyler, Brian “Little B” (Abigail), Collin, Addison, Amanda, Sara, and Wade; six great grandchildren; brother, Doug Moore (Diann); sister, Dale Benton (Benny); her Wednesday Cracker Barrel Crew; all of her feline fur babies; and many extended family and friends who will miss her dearly.

A Memorial Service will be held at a later date, and service information will be updated as it is confirmed.

Arrangements are under the compassionate care of Wrenn Funeral Home and online condolences may be shared with the family at www.wrennfh.com
