RRYBA 12U All-Star baseball team opens State Tournament with a win

The Roanoke Rapids Youth Babseball Association 12U All-Stars Opened the NC Cal-Ripkin State Tournament Friday in Swansboro.

The Roanoke Rapids Yellow Jackets opened with a win by beating Winterville 8-3. 

Gannon DeBerry pitched 5 scoreless innings for Roanoke Rapids and Ayden Brantley closed it out. 

Leading hitters for Roanoke Rapids were Gannon DeBerry, Collin Elias, Carson Duncan, Jackson Midgette, and Seth Tickle all with 2 hits each. 

The 12U All-Stars play again Saturday at 12 against Laurinburg and 6 against Nash County. 

One win on Saturday will put the 12U into the playoff for the State Championship on Sunday.
