The Roanoke Rapids Youth Baseball Association (RRYBA) 12U All-Stars remained undefeated Saturday with two wins in the NC Cal-Ripkin State Tournament in Swansboro.
The Yellow Jackets 12U All-Stars are 3-0 in pool play and are earned the the #1 seed heading into play-off semifinals Sunday.
In first game Saturday, the Yellow Jackets All-stars continued their play in the State Tournament today a 7-5 victory over District Champion Laurinburg. Laurinburg grabbed an early lead 3-0 and kept that margin heading to the bottom of the 5th inning with a 5-2 lead. Roanoke Rapids scored 5 runs in the bottom of the 5th to go up 7-5 and shut down Laurinburg in the top of the 6th to secure the victory.
For the Roanoke Rapids All-Stars, Carson Duncan pitched 2 innings giving up 2 runs, Caleb Hall pitched 2 innings giving up 3 runs, and Seth Tickel closed the game out pitching 2 innings with no runs allowed.
Offensive leaders for RR were Gannon DeBerry with 3 hits and Collin Elias with 2 hits. The team plays their final pool play game tonight at 6:00 against Nash County. With the win against Laurinburg RR had already advanced to the playoff on Sunday.
