The #3 seed Roanoke Rapids High School Lady Yellow Jackets softball team make school fastpitch history making it to the Elite Eight in the 2A NCHSAA State Playoffs.

The Roanoke Rapids Yellow Jackets takes the win over the #6 seed East Carteret Mariners Tuesday night at home 6-2.

East Carteret Mariners got things moving in the first inning, when an error scored one run for East Carteret Mariners.

Roanoke Rapids pulled away for good with four runs in the fourth inning. In the fourth Kalissa Williams homered on a 3-2 count, scoring two runs, Alana Mitchell singled on the first pitch of the at bat, scoring one run, and Alexia Coley singled on a 0-2 count, scoring one run.

Williams was the winning pitcher for Roanoke Rapids. The pitcher surrendered two runs on five hits over seven innings, striking out 11.

Roanoke Rapids tallied one home run on the day. Williams went deep in the fourth inning. Roanoke Rapids racked up eight hits. Williams and Mitchell all had multiple hits for Roanoke Rapids. Mitchell and Williams each managed two hits to lead the Lady Yellow Jackets.

The #3 seed Roanoke Rapids 20-3 are scheduled to travel to #2 seed South Lenior 22-1 Thursday at 6PM
