The NC USSSA Softball organization hosted the season first Travel softball tournament in Roanoke Rapids with the  Firecracker Celebration on Saturday, July 2 at Chockoyotte Park.

Several local High School Division Travel teams got an opportunity to play in front of a home crowd and welcome teams from Virginia and other parts of Eastern NC. Six teams total took to the Newsome Fields for a day of action. with the Virginia Southern Storm earning the Championship.

There wer five Homerun sluggers for the day from four of the six teams. Two dingers came from Roanoke Rapids based teams, The Lady Twisters Kalissa Williams and The Lady Venom Mariah Harris.
