The Halifax County Sheriff's Office is investigating the theft of a John Deere riding lawnmower and red metal tool box with tools from the Highway 48 area in Enfield. The theft occurred on Aug. 6 at 10:25 a.m. in the victim's yard. A witness observed a "big" black pick up truck driven by a white male with long hair, accompanied by a black male at the time of the theft, Maj. Bruce Temple said in a press release.
