State Alcohol Law Enforcement agents confiscated 29 video slot machines from a Rich Square business Wednesday night.

Assistant District Supervisor Russell King said the agents, based on a two-month investigation on Sugarbunk's, also confiscated $38,000 from the business located on Main Street in the Northampton County town.

The investigation, which was based on complaints by citizens and information supplied by law enforcement including the Northampton County Sheriff's Office and Rich Square Police Department, culminated with the issuance of a search warrant.

King said the business was giving warning to cease operations before a full-scale investigation was launched.

ALE will consult with the district attorney's office before any charges are filed, King said. “We're looking at the possibility of felony and misdemeanor gambling and video gaming violations.”

Northampton County Sheriff Jack Smith, who was on scene Wednesday, said the sheriff's office had received complaints the business was operating the machines and contacted ALE. “We had talked with them previously,” the sheriff said of the business.
