Michael was born October 3, 1949 in Pinehurst, NC to Thelma Wood and the late Jay Wood.
He grew up in Pinebluff, NC.

Michael had lived in Roanoke Rapids, NC since 1977.

He was preceded in death by his son Jeffrey Wood of Roanoke Rapids, NC.
He is survived by his wife of 46 years, Daguerrelyn Wood, of Roanoke Rapids, NC; his daughter Michelle Wood Spevak and her husband Matt Spevak of Fletcher, NC; his mother, Thelma Wood of Pinebluff, NC; his sisters Stella Singleton of Fletcher, NC, Lucy Stone and her husband Harvey Stone of Sanford, NC, Frances Lawter of Pinehurst, NC, and Charlotte Brooks; his daughter-in-law Jaime Wood of Roanoke Rapids, NC; his brother-in-laws Eugene Dugger and Alton Dugger of Florida; and four grandchildren.
He served his country from 1968-1970 in the United States Army during the Vietnam War. He was a Meat Department Manager with Winn Dixie for 30 years and a meat cutter for Food Lion for 14 years. 
He loved retirement.  He spent his time hunting, fishing, working in the yard, woodworking, camping, and boating.
A memorial service will be held on Friday April 14th, 2017 at 12pm at Wrenn, Clark, and Hagan Funeral Home with Jim King officiating.
The family will receive friends on Friday April 14th, 2017 from 11:00am-12:00pm at Wrenn, Clark, and Hagan Funeral Home.
