Weldon PD roundup: Domestic; NJ robbery suspect arrested

The Weldon Police Department reported the following, according to Chief James Avens:

Officers responded to a domestic at a residence in the 1600 block of Morris Street on February 23 around 4:42 p.m.

Lieutenant C.Davis spoke with the female victim and after investigation discovered she had been assaulted.

Kennedy Pettaway, 54, of Weldon, was arrested by Officer Q. Godley without trouble.

He was taken before a magistrate and charged with domestic assault on a female.

He has a March 7 court date.

Avens assisted.

 

On February 24 around 8:37 p.m., Godley conducted a traffic stop near the intersection of Third and Sycamore streets for a driver not having the vehicle’s headlights or taillights on.

Godley discovered the driver, Taquan Anderson, 19, of Emporia, was wanted out of New Jersey for first-degree robbery with a gun.

Anderson has a March 7 court date.
