Two men were arrested for outstanding warrants and another was arrested for possession of cocaine and drug paraphernalia on Tuesday.  

Shortly before 4 p.m., Corporal B. Council of the Halifax County Sheriff’s Office was in the area of Church Street when he noticed a man who had active warrants sitting in a vehicle.

Council requested assistance and Harris responded.  

Council arrested Dalonte Bradley, 22, of Weldon, for the outstanding warrant for operating a motor vehicle with no operator license, resisting a public officer and displaying a fictitious registration number plate.

During that arrest, Council requested Harris, who was traveling on Church Street, to stop a vehicle leaving the residence.  

The vehicle was stopped and the driver was identified as Lorenizo Simmons, 25, of Gaston.  Simmons was arrested by Harris for an outstanding warrant for common law obstruction of justice.

The passenger in Bradley’s vehicle, identified as Mark Antonio Fields, 25, was found in possession of cocaine hidden in a lottery ticket and drug paraphernalia.

Fields was arrested and charged with possession of cocaine and possession of drug paraphernalia.

Bradley received a $1,000 cash bond with an April 9 court date.

Fields received a $2,500 bond with an April 18 court date. Simmons received a $5,000 bond with an initial court appearance set today.

The obstruction of justice charge against Simmons was obtained by Roanoke Rapids Police Department Investigator G. Williams for a matter on February 16.

On Tuesday shortly after 5 p.m., agents went to a residence in the 300 block of Marshall Street to conduct a follow up.  

Agents received an anonymous call about drugs in the home.  

During the follow up agents noticed a small marijuana indoor grow operation.  

Agents seized one growing marijuana plant, approximately 119 grams of marijuana and several items of marijuana paraphernalia which included Mason jars, a digital scale, marijuana grinder, marijuana pipe, a homemade gravity bong, spray bottle, plastic growing containers, ceramic pot and a large box lined with aluminum foil with a light used to grow the marijuana plant.

Agent C. Babb arrested and charged Benjamin Ezell, 25, with manufacture marijuana, possession with intent to sell/deliver marijuana, felony possession of marijuana, maintaining a dwelling for a controlled substance and possession of marijuana paraphernalia.  

Ezell received a March 21 court date.
