A mistaken call which went to a drug agent’s number led to a man’s arrest on marijuana and cocaine charges today.

Shawtaurean

The events began when Taurean Shaw, 23, called to say “he had that smoke if he wanted to come through,” City County Drug Task Force Captain A.M. Harris said in a statement.

Harris said, this evening he wasn’t sure how Shaw got the agent’s number. “It was a mistake,” he said, adding calls like this have happened in the past.

The agent said he would call the man, who identified himself as Taurean, back in a few minutes. Agents discussed the call and continued to follow up on the man. Harris said this was the first time he has dealt with Shaw.

Around 3:30 p.m., Agent C.A. Parker went to the 1000 block of Vance Street in an undercover capacity and purchased more than 5 grams of marijuana from Shaw at the front door of his residence.

Once the exchange took place and Parker was not in the immediate area, agents attempted to arrest him for sale to the undercover officer. Shaw reportedly ran out the back door with a Mason jar of marijuana but was arrested by an agent.

Agents applied for a search warrant for the residence.

During the search of the residence agents located approximately 69.7 grams of marijuana, approximately 2.4 grams of cocaine and several items of drug paraphernalia which included two glass jars, a scale, glass bowl, two grinders, two scale weights, a box of sandwich bags and a bong.

Agent D.J. Epperson arrested and charged Shaw with sell marijuana, deliver marijuana, possession with intent to sell/deliver marijuana and maintaining a dwelling for a controlled substance for the purchase Parker made.

Shaw was also charged with felony possession of cocaine, felony possession of marijuana, possession with intent to sell/deliver marijuana, possession of marijuana paraphernalia and maintaining a dwelling for a controlled substance for the items seized from the residence.

Shaw received a $15,000 bond and March 21 court date.
