Second person wanted in Franklin St. B&E in custody

One of two men still wanted in a residential breaking and entering on Franklin Street was taken into custody Wednesday.

Noah Dylan Powers, 22, was arrested in the 1100 block of Julian R. Allsbrook Highway by Deputy B. Council of the Halifax County Sheriff’s Office.

In a statement Roanoke Rapids police Chief Chuck Hasty said Powers, of Roanoke Rapids, faces charges of breaking and entering, larceny after breaking and entering, four counts possession of stolen goods, three counts larceny, larceny of a motor vehicle, possession of a stolen vehicle, obtaining property by false pretense and injury to property.

Powers was jailed on $15,000 bond and has an April 4 court date.

The charges are linked to a case in February in which 11 windows were taken from the residence as well as a freezer, refrigerator, stove, washer and dryer.

Also taken were two trailers, one which has been recovered. The other is a military surplus trailer which has yet to be recovered. A van, which was recovered, was also taken, as well as a boat which was on the recovered trailer.

Lieutenant Charles Vaught said this morning those involved in the case made around $600 selling items as scrap while the victim listed the items stolen and the damages incurred between $6,000 to $7,000.

One arrest was made in the case in Tuesday when warrants were served to William Lewis Moncure who was in jail on unrelated charges.

He faces charges of obtaining property by false pretense; breaking and entering; larceny after breaking and entering; four counts of possession of stolen goods; three counts of larceny of a motor vehicle and injury to property.

Still wanted in the case is Michael Wayne Brown, 43. He faces similar charges as Powers and Moncure and is known to frequent the Wendover Lane area.
