RRPD roundup: Drug seizure; pepper spray deployed by shoplifter

The Roanoke Rapids Police Department reported the following:

On Thursday at approximately 3 p.m. officers received a report of a motor vehicle collision in the 900 block of Jackson Street and that one of the vehicles left the scene.  

Officer A. Green spotted a vehicle with front end damage at Jackson and Fifth streets and conducted a traffic stop to investigate.

Green determined the vehicle was not involved in the crash but discovered the driver, Breyon Marquise Parker, 29, of Garysburg, was driving on a suspended license and was in possession of narcotics.

Green arrested and charged Parker with possession of cocaine, possession of marijuana, possession of drug paraphernalia and driving while license revoked.

He received a $1,000 bond and April 4 court date.

Martin reported police are seeking the public’s help in identifying suspects involved in a larceny at Walmart. The people entered the store and stole electronic items. The larceny occurred on March 8 around 8:10 a.m.

The male suspect has been identified and warrants are pending.

The woman sprayed pepper spray behind herself as she was exiting the store when she noticed employees were following her.

Martin said he believed use of pepper spray was o keep the employees at bay as they left the store. No employee was harmed during its deployment.
