The green space, Main Street Development Director Christina Caudle said today, is open. All that remains is installation of the water feature in the summer and finishing the paint job on the front of the facade.
Lights have been strung and murals by local artist Napoleon Hill have been hung.

A dedication of the green space will be held in the summer to coincide with the completion of the water feature.
For Arts on the Avenue, Main Street will have musicians playing in the open space and will also have a tent there with information. “We’re beyond excited it is open to the public. It’s well-lit, ADA compliant. It really is a beautiful space that we hope the public will enjoy and be proud of,” Caudle said.
There is a public parking space directly behind the green space. “We hope the public will use it to come through, see what we’ve done and enjoy the art crawl.”
This will be the third Arts on the Avenue event, which is sponsored by the Halifax County Arts Council and Main Street.
The events runs 5 p.m. through 8 p.m. and also coincides with annual Student Art Show which will be at the arts council building across the street from 1026 Roanoke Avenue.
The artists, musicians and photographers displaying their work will be featured inside businesses, their works will be on storefronts and there will be musicians on the sidewalks between Ninth and Eleventh streets.
The student art show at the Arts Council from 4 p.m. to 8 p.m. building will feature the work of students from Kipp Pride, Northwest Collegiate and Technical Academy and Roanoke Rapids High School.
