The North Carolina Symphony is coming to town.

The Symphony will bring holiday music to Weldon with a Holiday Pops concert.

Led by Symphony Resident Conductor William Henry Curry, the concert takes place at The Centre at Halifax Community College Tuesday, December 17 at 7:30 p.m.

The state’s orchestra will present treasured celebrations of the season, beginning with "Christmas Overture” by Samuel Coleridge-Taylor, followed by an arrangement of a holiday classic titled “Fantasia on Greensleeves.” The program also features orchestral holiday classics with a piece from the Tchaikovsky ballet, The Nutcracker, as well as Dance of the Tumblers from Rimsky-Korsakov’s The Snow Maiden.

The North Carolina Symphony’s own Terry Mizesko’s composition “Maoz Tsur” from A Chanukah Celebration will ring out, and the full orchestra takes the audience on a ride with “Christmas Fantasy for Orchestra.” “The North Carolina Symphony celebrates the holidays so perfectly,” said Joanne Jolly, HCC special events coordinator at The Centre. “Our community is very fortunate to have this incredible orchestra pay a visit to help get us into the spirit of the season.” Audiences can sing familiar favorite songs along with the orchestra, including “It’s Beginning to Look a Lot Like Christmas,” “Silver Bells,” and “The Christmas Song.”

There's no need to remember all the words as song sheets will be provided. Tickets to the Holiday Pops concert at The Centre at Halifax Community College range from $10-25. For tickets or more information:
