A Halifax man with a lengthy criminal record is in more trouble with the law after a Northampton County Grand Jury returned true bills of indictment against him for sexual crimes against a minor child.

Captain Chuck Hasty of the Northampton County Sheriff's Office arrested William Timothy Robinson, 24, Friday after the grand jury returned the indictments earlier this month.

Robinson was indicted for statutory rape, kidnapping, indecent liberties with a minor, contributing to the delinquency of a minor and three counts of habitual felon.

Robinson was arrested at his residence without incident with the assistance of Detective J.M. Clark of the Halifax County Sheriff’s Office.

Robinson was given a $175,000 bond and a court date of February 24.

Hasty said the victim, who was 15 at the time, was taken from her home in Edgecombe County without her parent's permission to Northampton County where the offenses allegedly occurred in May of last year.

It was determined during a second investigation requested by the 6B District Attorney's Office the crimes allegedly occurred in Northampton.
