Weldon police are investigating another shooting that occurred around 12:30 this morning.

Captain James Avens said the shooting is believed to be unrelated to a drive-by that occurred early Monday evening.

Motivation in the morning shooting, in which a victim was shot in the torso, is believed to be robbery as the victim had an undisclosed amount of money taken.

The robbery occurred in the 200 block of East Second Street as the victim and another person were leaving a relative's house.

They were approached by three men. One of them brandished a handgun and demanded money. The money was taken, and the victim shot.

The victim, a 24-year-old man, was transported to Vidant in Greenville. He was in stable condition when transported, Avens said.

Two of the suspects were wearing ski masks, one dressed in all black, and the other wearing a black coat and blue jeans. A description of the third suspect was not immediately available.

Anyone with information is encouraged to call the police department at 252-536-3136 or Crimestoppers at 252-583-4444.
