The following streets will be closed Tuesday as CSX continues repairs to rail crossings:

Georgia Avenue

Carolina Avenue

Virginia Avenue

Marshall Street

Detours will be Hamilton and East Tenth Street, according to the Roanoke Rapids Police Department.

“Because they are detouring traffic off Roanoke Avenue onto Hamilton it may be congested at times,” said Captain Andy Jackson. “Allow plenty of time. The best route is to take Tenth Street to Julian R. Allsbrook Highway, using the stoplights. It may actually be quicker.”

Jackson said CSX plans to make the repairs quickly, replacing rails and asphalt.
