The designation comes from the North Carolina Association of Municipal Clerks, along with the School of Government of the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill for achieving its high educational, experience, and service requirements. City Manager Joseph Scherer said, “Lisa Vincent is a dedicated professional who thrives on new challenges and responsibility. Her sustained superior performance has been an inspiration to each member of the city’s work force.”
Vincent, who has been the city clerk for 29 years, said the designation is a relatively new one in the state. It is a reflection of the many courses she has taken throughout her career. “It's something I wanted. It means a lot that it's a certification from our own state.”
Vincent, according to a news release, attained her designation as a North Carolina State Certified Municipal Clerk through the completion of the North Carolina Association of Municipal Clerks Program conducted in cooperation with the School of Government of the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill. As an established member of the North Carolina Association of Municipal Clerks, Vincent joins the 2014 class of municipal clerks from North Carolina who are receiving this state designation.
This certification program was developed with the assistance of the UNC School of Government at Chapel Hill and will be administered in cooperation with the school.
Qualifications of applicants are reviewed and approved by the NCAMC State Certification Committee.
