Signature assumes former Guardian Care operations

Signature HealthCARE announced today it has assumed operations of Roanoke Rapids Healthcare & Rehabilitation Center. It will be now be known as Signature HealthCARE of Roanoke Rapids.

The takeover is effective today at the facility once known as Guardian Care, which is located at 305 East Fourteenth Street.

SHC of Roanoke Rapids is a 108-bed skilled nursing and rehabilitation center that offers skilled-nursing, occupational and speech therapies, and other services.

In addition to the Roanoke Rapids facility, effective today, Signature also assumed operations of health care centers in Ohio, Georgia and Virginia, the company said in a statement.

“We formed Signature HealthCARE in 2007 with the goal of creating a new model for long-term care – a revolution that would change the way aging care is delivered,” said Signature President and CEO Joe Steier. “Seven years later, I’m proud that we have been able to extend this revolution to new cities and states, and to have so many others join us in this sacred mission. To watch our team members in their dedication to serve those most in need, and to have this movement continue to grow to nearly 20,000 stakeholders, has been a blessing and an inspiration.”

Signature HealthCARE is a growing long-term care, rehabilitation and health care company based in Louisville, Kentucky, with more than 120 locations in 10 states.

Signature’s programming and culture will be integrated into SHC of Roanoke Rapids, and the building is scheduled to undergo renovations. “We’re proud to serve the people of Roanoke Rapids and believe our new partnership with Signature will help us continue to advance the level of care we offer,” said SHC of Roanoke Rapids Administrator and CEO Nakia Whitley. “I believe our residents and families will be pleased with the changes.”
