A search continues at Kipp in Gaston after a report of multiple bombs planted at the school was received this morning.

Sergeant Thomas Staton of the Gaston Police Department said the call came in shortly after 9:15 a.m.

He said the Northampton County Sheriff's Office, Gaston Fire Department, the Halifax County Sheriff's Office and Northampton County EMS responded.

Northampton County Sheriff Jack Smith said Roanoke Rapids was also en route with one of its canines and law enforcement was awaiting word on the arrival of dogs from Petersburg and Wake Forest.

School officials, Smith said, escorted students to an athletic field a safe distance away.
