The North Carolina State Highway Patrol received notification from the medical examiner's office of the death of Earl White, 81, on Friday.
Investigation by Trooper C.C. Gall showed that White's vehicle ran off the road to the right about 6.4 miles south of Halifax shortly after 5 p.m.
The man overcorrected and the vehicle overturned multiple times before coming to rest overturned on the right shoulder of the highway.
