Mr. Aaron Bernard Smiley, 25, of Rocky Mount, NC, died on August 10, 2010 at Wake Forest Baptist Hospital in Winston Salem, NC.
Mr. James Herman Alston , 66, of Rocky Mount, NC, died on Friday, August 13, 2010.

Mr. Tyrone Powell Williams, 58, of Rocky Mount, NC, died on Thursday, August 11, 2010.
A visitation for Mr. Williams will be held from 11:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m., on Wednesday, August 18, 2010, at St. James Baptist Church located at 527 E. Thomas Street in Rocky Mount, NC.
Funeral services will begin immediately following the visitation at 12:00 p.m. on Wednesday, August 18, 2010 at St. James Baptist Church.
The interment will take place following the service at Gardens of Gethsemane Cemetery in Rocky Mount, NC.

William John “Bill” O’Neill, Jr., 70, of 216 Chestnut Hill, Henrico, NC died Friday, August 13, 2010 at his home after a long and courageous battle with cancer.
Mr. O’Neill was a native of Plymouth, PA, the son of the late William John O’Neill, Sr. and Margaret Kelley O’Neill. Mr. O’Neill was retired from the CIA as an analyst. He was proud to have been a US Marine, having served his country. He was a member of the Lakeland Theatre, Lake Gaston Lions Club, Lake Gaston AARP, Lake Gaston Water Safety Council, and he was a columnist with the Lake Gaston Gazette-Observer. Mr. O’Neill had a passion for boating and sailing. He was a member of St. Peter the Apostle Catholic Church.
Mr. O’Neill is survived by his wife of 50 years, Patricia “Pat” H. O’Neill; his daughter, Theresa O. Morgan and her husband, Otto; two sons, Michael O’Neill and his wife, Mavis; and William O’Neill and his wife, Diane; all of Manassas, VA; three brothers, Thomas O’Neill and his wife, Anne, of Henrico; John O’Neill and his wife, Pat, of Warrenton, VA and James O’Neill; thirteen grandchildren; four great-grandchildren; and three great-great grandchildren.

Askew Funeral & Cremation Services in Roanoke Rapids is handling the arrangements, where the family will receive friends on Monday, August 16, from 7:00 to 8:30 p.m.
Funeral services will be held Tuesday, August 17, at St. Peter the Apostle Catholic Church in Ebony, VA at 11:00 a.m. with Father Columba Nnorom officiating.

Mary Eugene Eason Moore, 80, of 815 E. 13th Street, Roanoke Rapids, died Thursday, August 5, 2010, at her home.
She was a loving, caring, dedicated wife, mother and grandmother who cared more about others than herself. She loved doing for others and loved her pets. She was a member of Lake View Park Baptist Church for 40 years.
Mrs. Moore was born January 13, 1930, to the late William Eason and Jennie Carter Eason, and was also preceded in death by her sisters: Annie Freuler, Pat Bland, and Sally Workman.
She is survived by her husband of 58 years, Willie Moore; her children: Gary Moore and wife, Elaine, Steven Moore and wife, Susan, and Jennifer Moore and fiance, Roy Brown, Jr., of Roanoke Rapids, her brother, William Eason, of Roanoke Rapids, her sisters: Dolly Dever and husband Robert, of Louisville, Kentucky, and Ruby Weiss,of Roanoke Rapids; her grandchildren: Heather Acree and husband, Jonathan, Kevin and fiancé, Samantha, and Brandon Moore; great-grandchildren, Nathaniel, Chloe, and Skylar, and many nieces and nephews.
Funeral services were held Sunday, August 8, 2010, in the chapel of Hockaday Funeral & Cremation Service at 2:00 P.M. conducted by Rev. Randy Martin. Burial followed in Cedarwood Cemetery.
