Tyndall show to help firefighter in lymphoma battle

As the Roanoke Rapids Theatre continues booking acts for its fall entertainment series, one show has been selected to help a Roanoke Rapids firefighter battling a rare form of lymphoma.

With the prospective buyers of the Roanoke Rapids Theater expected to get loan approval to close on the property, a special meeting of city council has been called for Monday to discuss the matter.

Both the city and the potential buyers of the Roanoke Rapids Theater wanted to fix a date for the end of the due diligence period which could lead to the sale of the venue, City Attorney Gilbert Chichester said today.

Roanoke Rapids City Council received a closed-session briefing on the progress being made to strike a final contract with the potential buyers of the theater.

Thursday theater meeting targeted talent booking

A meeting Thursday with the ownership group proposing to buy the Roanoke Rapids Theatre went smoothly, City Manager Joseph Scherer said.

After its tree-lighting ceremony and Sunday’s parade, the city has two more events planned to celebrate the Christmas season.

Their bid to buy the Roanoke Rapids Theatre approved, Thomas and Evon McLean have initiated the due diligence process.

Council approves resolution accepting theater bid

The prospective owners of the Roanoke Rapids Theatre will have a 120-day due diligence period before they sign a contract to take over the building.
