Meth charges lodged in Pendleton raid

Evidence of a meth lab was discovered last week in Northampton County and three people have been arrested, according to a statement released by Sheriff Jack Smith today.

A December 17 confrontation during a traffic stop in the 1000 block of Franklin Street led to commendations for two Roanoke Rapids police officers.

As of this report Halifax Community College has not made a decision on whether it will close Wednesday, President Michael Elam said this evening.

Judge Brenda Branch has not made a decision whether to delay or cancel district courts in Halifax, Bertie or Northampton counties.

Roanoke Rapids City Council received a closed-session briefing on the progress being made to strike a final contract with the potential buyers of the theater.

The Roanoke Rapids Police Department reported the following, according to Chief Chuck Hasty:

A shooting death which occurred outside Roanoke Rapids Monday appears not to be suicide, Halifax County Sheriff Wes Tripp said this afternoon.
