Halifax County government and Halifax County Cooperative Extension have set the date for the 2023 Harvest Days festival.

The annual celebration of agriculture in the county will be held at the 4-H Rural Life Center on Friday, October 20, from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. — specifically for 4th and 5th grade public, private, charter or home school students in Halifax County.

The event will be open to the public on Saturday, October 21, at 10 a.m.

“This year we are celebrating the 100th anniversary of our 4-H Rural Life Center building, which was originally constructed as the Halifax County Home and completed in August 1923,” said Beth Burchell, Halifax County extension director. “While the history of this building, which is on the National Register of Historic Places, is significant, we are even more excited about the future of this building, which is currently undergoing significant renovations, as well as the other important structures and these grounds for recreational and educational purposes and to further the mission of 4-H.”

Harvest Days also celebrates the world of agriculture and features farm animals, antique tractors, hay wagon rides, the agricultural museum, and educational exhibits, as well as local vendors selling festival food and arts and crafts.

There will be entertainment throughout the day on Saturday, including headliner The Feature Attraction Band which will perform from noon to 2 p.m.

Food and arts and crafts vendors are now being accepted with a reasonable vendor fee.
