Deputies are investigating a fatal shooting that occurred early this morning in Scotland Neck, according to Major Anzell M. Harris of the Halifax County Sheriff’s Office.

Shortly after 1 a.m., deputies responded to a call reporting shots fired in the McDowell Road area. While en route, responding units were notified that a person had been struck by gunfire.

Upon arrival at the scene, deputies located a 37-year-old male who was deceased from apparent gunshot wounds.
