A Roanoke Rapids man has been charged with numerous counts of fraud and larceny following an investigation by the Roanoke Rapids Police Department.

Dillon Tyler Irby and James Powell were indicted Monday in the January murder of Travis Johnson and the attempted murder of another victim, according to true bills returned by a grand jury.
As defendants charged in the murders of four friends playing cards last summer in the Glenview community of the Enfield area are scheduled to make their first Halifax County Superior Court appearances next month, one of them has twice demanded his right to a speedy trial.
