Emporia and Greensville County have the distinction of having the only certified CSX mega site in Virginia. The distinction is an important one for CSX, which in recent years began a program designed to identify suitable locations for industrial development for large manufacturing operations.

The Weldon Police Department and Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco and Firearms is investigating the theft of guns used by basic law enforcement training students at Halifax Community College.
The undisclosed amount of guns were stolen from an unnamed location on the college’s campus, Chief Mark Macon said.
The crime most likely occurred sometime between Friday night and Monday and forced entry was used to get the weapons.
Macon said it is too early in the investigation to determine whether a student may have stolen the guns.
