Halifax County named Quentin Jones parks and recreation director after a recruitment and interview process.
His first day was today.
“I am truly excited and honored to step into the role of parks and recreation director. This opportunity represents not only a professional milestone for me, but also a chance to serve our community in a meaningful way,” said Jones. “I am passionate about enhancing the quality of life for our residents through well-maintained parks, engaging programs, and inclusive spaces that bring people together.”

Jones has more than 10 years of parks and recreation experience with the following agencies: Wake Forest Parks and Recreation, Raleigh Parks and Recreation, High Point Parks and Recreation, Greensboro Parks and Recreation, and Morrisville Parks and Recreation.
A big sports fan, Jones’ favorite teams are the UNC Tarheels and Atlanta Braves.
He loves to play pickleball and he coached high school basketball for four years at Knightdale High School.
From Raleigh, Jones graduated from North Carolina Central University with a bachelor of science in recreation administration.
“I am looking forward to Mr. Jones joining the Halifax County department head team,” said County Manager Dia Denton. “He has a unique opportunity to build and grow the county’s new parks and recreation department. He is well-suited for this position.”
