A second person has been charged with first-degree murder in the February shooting death of a Roanoke Rapids man.
The warrant lodged against 25-year-old Ti’Maeus Copeland does not go into detail about his alleged role in the death of Cormani Burnett, who was found deceased in his work truck the evening of February 23.
Major Anzell Harris of the Halifax County Sheriff’s Office said Copeland, of Roanoke Rapids, was located at a business in Northampton County around 8:30 p.m. Wednesday.

Detective I. Miller, HCSO investigators, and agents of the Halifax Regional Drug and Gang Task Force, along with Northampton County Sheriff’s Office deputies, located Copeland.
Copeland, who remains in the Halifax County Detention Center without the opportunity for bond, is the second person charged with first-degree murder in the case. Latina Moore was charged Sunday night; she remains in custody and awaits a May 27 district court date along with Copeland.
“Criminals often attempt to evade law enforcement by crossing jurisdictional lines and hiding in neighboring counties or communities,” Halifax County Sheriff Tyree Davis said. “The Halifax County Sheriff’s Office would like to thank the Northampton County Sheriff’s Office, the Halifax Regional Drug and Gang Task Force, and all assisting investigators and deputies for their continued teamwork and dedication in helping bring those responsible to justice.”
This case remains under investigation, and anyone with information is encouraged to contact Miller at 252-645-9611.
