Thus far none of the incumbents for the Roanoke Rapids City Council for have filed for re-election. Councilman Ed Liverman has stated he will not seek a another term for his District 2 seat.
Also open in Roanoke Rapids are the District 1 seat of Ernest Bobbitt and the District 3 seat of Carl Ferebee.
While the filing period ends Friday at noon, because both Roanoke Rapids and Enfield have voting districts, a delayed filing period will begin on July 25 and end August 12, according to Halifax County Board of Elections Supervisor Kristin Scott.
Filings thus far include Cliff Bass for Halifax town commissioner; Stella Daugherty, Grover Whitley and Julian Padgette for Hobgood town commissioner; Terry Newsom and Clara Delores Debnam for Littleton town commissioner; Valencia W. Davis and Dorothy “Dot” Green for the Roanoke Rapids school board; James “Jim” Bailey, Paul W. Heaton Jr. and Gene St. Clair for the Roanoke Rapids Sanitary District Board; Leonard Bunting for mayor of Scotland Neck; James L. Gunnells, Charlie Shields and Raymond Watson for Scotland Neck town commissioner; Walter Clark Jr. for Weldon town commissioner.
None of the incumbents in three seats open for Enfield town commissioner have refiled yet.
