A man wanted in a Tuesday evening shooting was apprehended and arrested by deputies of Hertford County Sheriff’s Office Wednesday.

Chief Deputy Scott Hall of the Halifax County Sheriff’s Office said it was not clear why 25-year-old Raekwon Williams was in Hertford County. Hall could not say where in Hertford County the Scotland Neck man was taken into custody.

He is currently being held in the Hertford County Detention Center under a $200,000 bond. Hall said the local sheriff’s office plans to transport him to the Halifax County Detention Center.

Williams was wanted in a shooting which took place Tuesday around 9 p.m. on Allison Drive outside Scotland Neck.

Deputies responded to the area after receiving a report a woman had been shot.

Investigation showed, however, the woman was struck in the face by glass when Williams reportedly fired into the vehicle she was driving.

Investigation by Detective B. Biggerstaff led to the identification of Williams.

Hall said investigators believe the woman was the intended victim of the shooting.

Warrants were obtained for his arrest on charges of shooting into an occupied vehicle, assault with a deadly weapon, and injury to personal property.

The victim refused medical treatment.
