Littleton police, with assistance of several agencies today, arrested a man wanted in a shooting death Sunday morning which occurred during a DJ night at a Mexican restaurant.

Chief Phillip Trivette said warrants had been taken out on 26-year-old Lavonte Taylor Wednesday for felony murder and felony assault with a deadly weapon inflicting serious injury.

With assistance from the United States Marshals Service Task Force, the Halifax County Sheriff’s Office, North Carolina Alcohol Law Enforcement and the Warren County Sheriff’s Office, Taylor was taken into custody without trouble today in LaCrosse, Virginia.

Bond and extradition information were not immediately available.

Trivette said authorities are still not releasing information on motive in the shooting, which fatally wounded 32-year-old Quayshawn Rogers and wounded 26-year-old Kiara Scott as about 100 people were on the dance floor at San Lucas Mexican Kitchen on North Mosby Avenue. Scott, who was shot in the leg, is expected to make a full recovery.

The fatal shooting occurred around 1:45 a.m. when a person came out of the crowd and shot Rogers, who was pronounced deceased at ECU North in Roanoke Rapids.
