Christine Justice Polston, 83, joined her heavenly family June 14, 2109, surrounded by her loving family.

Born September 20, 1935 to George & Hattie Cooper Justice, she was the baby of two siblings, Stella & Dick.

Chris grew up on the 700 block of Franklin St. and commented everytime she passed it.

She attended RRHS and played the saxophone in the band.

There she met the love of her life and married William “Billy” Polston on April 5, 1952.

With this union she shared 3 daughters and raised them in the Gum Chapel PHC where she was an active member with Bible Schools, Lifeliner director, Sunday School, Women's Auxiliary and wherever she was needed. In recent years she attend Harvest Temple PHC.

Chris was a homemaker before working in the textile mills.

She became the first female animal control officer in Roanoke Rapids in the early 70's and loved her job.

Later she was employed at Halifax Memorial in the business office and finally retired as the Volunteer Coordinator where she always received compliments on her fashion and style.

Chris also enjoyed working at Stacy's Jewelry before finally settling down at home once again. Chris was a huge fan of the Braves baseball team, The Price Is Right, Jeopardy and Wheel of Fortune, all of which she never missed.

In addition to her parents, Chris is preceded in death by her husband, Billy, her daughter Cindy Polston Ott, mother in law Rev. Lessie Polston, siblings Stella Wrenn & Dick Justice.

She is survived by her daughters, Libby Roberson (Sherwood) and Tammy Poythress (Melvin), grandchildren, BJ Ott (Eva), Mikey Ott (Amanda), Brad Roberson, Daniel Roberson (Brittney), Sophia Varela (James), Christina Gainey (Anthony), Lacy Richter (Jose). Great-grandchildren, Jillian, Kennedy and Tucker Ott, Braxton, Avery and Boone Roberson, Kaleb Hardison and Donovan Varela, Abby and Colton Gainey, Sebastian and Isabella Richter. Special nephew Bucky Wrenn (Nita).

The family would like to thank the caregivers at Magnolia Garden for the gentle and kind manner they had with Chris. They truly love their residents and Chris was proof of that by treating her and her family as one of their own. Also thank you to Janet Joyner, an earlier caregiver who catered to Chris's every whim and became a special family friend.  Thank you all for your love and support.

A memorial service will be held at 11:00 A.M. Wednesday, June 19, 2019 at Hockaday Funeral and Cremation Service. The family will receive friends following the service.
