Elsie Mae Hux Pittard, 94, entered the Church Triumphant on January 1, 2013.

She was the daughter of Matthew Wesley Hux and Belvie Crawley and a native of Halifax County and long time member of Hawkins Chapel United Methodist Church. She was a homemaker and beloved mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother who will be greatly missed.

She was predecased by her husband, James Ambrose Pittard and son-in-law Arnold Gene Cobb, Sr.

She is survived by children Joyce Pittard Cobb of Roanoke Rapids, James Donald "Bubba" and his wife Mary Lee of Southern Shores, NC, Douglas Wayne and his wife Linda Liles of Littleton, and Jackie Pittard Norman and her husband George of Wilson, NC; twelve grandchildren and twenty-three great-grandchildren and many nieces,nephews, and special niece Faye Pepper.

The family will receive friends at the Hockaday Funeral Home on January 2, 2013 from 7-8:30 p.m.  A service celebrating her life will be held at Hawkins Chapel United Methodist Church at 3:00 p.m. on Thursday January 3, 2013 led by Rev. Sid Collins and grandson Rev. Dr. A. Gene Cobb, Jr. with interment following in the Church Cemetery.  In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Hawkins Chapel United Methodist Church in memory of Elsie Pittard, care of 16976 Justice Branch Road Littleton, NC  27850.
