Mable Sanders Joyner, 87, died Friday, January 4, 2013 at Warren Hills Nursing Center.

Mrs. Joyner was born May 4, 1925 in to the late John D. and Lizer Lovette Sanders.

In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by her husband John G. Joyner; her brothers Roland Sanders, James B. Sanders, Charlie M. Sanders and John H. Sanders; her sisters Estelle Blackwell, Ethel Turner and Ann Welch.

A native of Halifax County where she was a member of Liberty Pentecostal (formerly) Weldon Pentecostal where she taught Sunday School for many years.  Mrs. Joyner was a loving mother, grandmother, aunt, and friend.

Mrs. Joyner is survived by her daughter Brenda West and husband Sambo. Her son Billie Joyner and wife Suzanne of Carrolton, Va.  6 grandchildren Sammy “Cutbuddy” West of Roanoke Rapids, Steve West and wife Tammy of Littleton, Brenda Kinton and husband Lee of Youngsville, NC, William Joyner and wife Melissa of Arlington, WA. Kelly Cofield and husband Jason of Zuni, Va., Robert Joyner and fiancé` Margaret Calvert of Richmond, Va. 5 great-grandchildren Ashley West, Brian Kinton, Crystal Lewis, Amanda Hoag and Olivia Joyner.; and many nieces and nephews.

Funeral services will be held Monday, January 7, 2013 at 1:00 PM at Liberty Pentecostal Holiness Church with Rev. Tony Smith officiating.  Burial will follow in Cedarwood Cemetery in Weldon.

The family will receive friends Sunday, January 6, 2013 from 7:00 to 9:00 PM at Hockaday Funeral & Cremation Service and other times at the home Sambo and Brenda West.
