Doris Carpenter Blythe, 86, died Wednesday, January 13th, 2021, in Roanoke Rapids.

Doris  was born October 30th, 1934 in Halifax County , the daughter of Nettie Hawkins Carpenter and Thomas Jefferson Carpenter. 

Her parents, her beloved  daughter Barbara Lynn Blythe and sister Margie Ann Carpenter preceded her in death. 

She retired from Glover Construction in 2003. 

She enjoyed reading, crossword puzzles, game shows and spending time with her family. 

She was a dedicated Girl Scout Leader for over 25 years in Roanoke Rapids where she mentored many girls through the years of various ages. 

Survivors include her children Tommy Blythe (Pam), Cindi Benson (Ed), grandson Scott Blythe (Amber), two great grandchildren Mackenzie  and Hannah Lynn;  and her sister Hazel Smith (Fred) of Morro Bay, CA. 

Pastor Jimmy King will conduct graveside services on Saturday, January 16th at 1 pm at Hawkins Chapel Church Cemetery on NC 48 in Roanoke Rapids. The family will greet friends following the service. 

In lieu of flowers memorial donations can be made online to Girl Scouts Coastal Pines via  the Girl Scouts give site for Halifax County.   

Arrangements are under the care of Hockaday Funeral and Cremation Service.
