Rev. Bobby Eugene Turner, Jr. 65, died Sunday, March 14, 2021 in his Roanoke Rapids home.

Bobby was born November 11, 1955 in Halifax County, the son of Bobby E. Turner, Sr. and Helen Ann Oliver Turner.  In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a brother, Joseph Turner.

Bobby was a member of Victory Baptist Church.  He had held pastoral positions at Grace Baptist Church in Rich Square and Open Door Fellowship in Roanoke Rapids; and was also a chaplain with Community Hospice.  Bobby also worked at Food Lion, and retired after 20 years of service.

He loved music, playing guitar and singing.  He enjoyed most all sports as well as “playing golf.” He was a huge fan of the Tarheels and the Miami Dolphins.

Bobby is survived by his wife, Donna Dix Turner; son, Bobby Lea Turner (Samantha) of Bowmanville, Ontario, Canada; daughters, Susan Turner Warthen (Monty) of Fruitland, MD, and Sharon Turner Howerton (Brian) of Roanoke Rapids; brother, Jimmy Dale Turner (Judy) of Alexander; sister, Joyce Turner Doughtie (Wesley) of Roanoke Rapids; grandchildren, J. Patrick Alley, Jr., Evan Warthen, Douglas McCann III, Braden Warthen, Reagan Howerton; cousins; nieces and nephews; and his beloved dog, Leroy.  

The family will receive friends from 11:00 am until 12:30 pm Friday, March19, at Victory Baptist Church, with the funeral service to follow in the church sanctuary at 1:00 pm.  Dr. Joe Arthur, Rev. Jeremy Kobernat and Rev. Wayne Marshall will preside. Interment will follow in Cedarwood Cemetery.

Those attending are asked to observe mask and social distancing recommendations.
