L. Neil Southard, 53, died Monday morning, October 31, 2022 in his Littleton home following an extended illness.

A native of Craven County, Neil was born April 28, 1969, to Worth Junior (Pug) and Glenda Sue Page Southard.  His parents; a sister, Laura Dupree; first wife, Michelle Brill Southard; and a nephew, Trey Inman, all preceded him in death.

Neil was a retired upholsterer.  

He was a member of Millennium Pentecostal Holiness Church.  

Neil was an avid outdoorsman (hunting, fishing, camping, anything nature), vegetable gardening; he loved to play the guitar, and was a man of grit who loved his family. God first, then family and then country.

Neil is survived by his wife, Dana B. Southard; daughter, Savannah Rayne Southard, both of the home; son, Joshua Neil Southard of Pink Hill, NC; brother, Eddie Inman (Rebecca) of Hampstead, NC; sister, Naomi Kim of Pottstown, PA; nephews, Richard Dupree (Kari) of Albertson, NC, Ashley Dupree of Seven Springs, NC; nieces, Chassity Carowan (Stacey) of Pantego, NC, Candice Inman of Jacksonville, NC; many loved great-nieces and nephews.

The family will receive friends from 1:00 – 1:45 pm Friday at Hockaday Funeral and Cremation Service in Roanoke Rapids, with the memorial service to celebrate Neil’s life to follow at 2:00 pm in the funeral home chapel.  Jason Yeatts, Minister, will preside.
