Joyce Colston Clements, 75, of Gaston, died on Sunday, August 20, 2023, at her home with her family by her side.
She was born in Gaston to the late Ronald and Sarah Colston.
Joyce was very passionate about her lifetime career as a teacher.

She was an assistant at Manning Elementary and a kindergarten teacher at Squire Elementary. She worked and went to school until she ultimately received her master’s degree in elementary education.
She was a life member of Shiloh United Methodist Church.
She is survived by her husband Edward “Bubba” Clements of the home, her son Lee Clements (Yajaira) of Bedford, VA; her daughter Lynne Ruffin (Brian) of Grifton, NC; special daughter-in-law Louise Clements of Bedford, VA; two sisters: Rebecca Dickens of New Bern, NC and Ann Harris of Roanoke Rapids, NC; six grandchildren, Emilee Clements, Samara Gutierrez, Casey Copeland and her husband Jeremy, Kaley Copeland, Michaela Clements, and Hudson Yarborough; five great grandchildren: Ayden Keeter, Zoey Taylor, Hayley Taylor, Drake Carlisle, and Carson Copeland; and many nephews and nieces.
Graveside Services will be held at 2:00 PM on Wednesday, August 23, 2023, in Shiloh United Methodist Church Cemetery with Rev. Keith Griffin officiating. The family will receive friends on Tuesday, August 22, 2023, from 7:00 – 9:00 PM at Hockaday Funeral & Cremation Service. Friends may sign the online register by visiting www.hockadayfs.com
