Doris “Doll” Grant Smith, known as Mimi to her family, passed away on Thursday, October 19, 2023.  

Mrs. Smith was born on October 7, 1935, the daughter of the late Mary Atkinson and Ulysses S. Grant. She was also preceded in death by her husband Edward Carlton Smith. 

Mrs. Smith was a member of Community Center Baptist Church; she enjoyed traveling and shopping.  

When she was in high school, she loved to sing at events and won a lot of awards.

Surviving include her daughter Mary Susan Smith Herbert (Bob), her son Michael “Mike” Smith (Elsie); her sister Alice Faye Stevenson (John), her grandchildren:  Michael Chase Campbell (Steven), Debra LeAnna Bryant Mead (Darrell), Sydney Smith, and Torie Ladendorf (Jonathan), her great-grandchildren: Parker Mead and Nathan Mead, and her furbaby Charlie. 

A Funeral Service will be held at 3:00 PM on Sunday, October 22, 2023, in Hockaday Funeral & Cremation Service with Rev. Henry Stevens officiating.  

Burial will follow in Crestview Memorial Cemetery.  

The family will receive friends prior to the service beginning at 2:00 PM.
