Dennis Morgan Durance, 75, of Roanoke Rapids, NC passed away peacefully at his daughter’s residence on Sunday December 24, 2023.
Mr. Durance was born on April 11, 1948, in Halifax County, the son of the late John Franklin Durance and Pauline Driver Olmstead.
He was preceded in death by his brother Dwight Loring Durance, his sister Susan Jane Durance and his daughter Michelle Durance Gums.

He is survived by his daughters Sharon Durance Jenkins, Laura Jean Gums, son-in-laws Mike Gums and Kevin (Pam) King who he treated like a son. His brother James (Cindy) Tuck and sister Debra Tuck Korff. His 16 grandchildren, 12 great grandchildren.
He was known as a simple man who loved life to the fullest, loved his family and for riding around “junking.”
A funeral service will be held at Hockaday Funeral and Cremation Chapel Sunday December 31, 2023, at 2:00pm. Pastor Randy Martin will conduct the service.
Visitation will be held at Hockaday Funeral and Cremation from 1:00pm to 2:00pm. Interment will be at Cedarwood cemetery immediately after the service.
