This weekend last year we were in the midst of Rapids Jam at Carolina Crossroads.

This band was the headliner at last years Dream Acres Festival. The events organizer Ann Meadows recently told me that when they arrived in a Gremlin and pulled their three piece drum set, a lead guitar and a bass out, she wasn’t sure she had made the right choice as the headliner for the festivals big night. But when they took the stage everyone was in awe of the energy and performance the band put on, even to the point that other larger bands where saying that they were glad they did not have to follow them.
Hux’s Nite Life also has a double header of entertainment planned. Friday night, Donny Casey will bring out the Good Time Karaoke Show giving anyone the chance to be a star for a song. Donny will also be mixing in the ever-popular club and dance music for everyone to enjoy. The Willie Peebles Band from Jackson will be on stage on Saturday night.
The Friday’s in the Park series continues this week as well. Jashaun Peele and Friends will be performing Jazz music in Centennial Park.
Collier Harley-Davidson will be having their Seventh Annual Birthday Bash. Off Kilter a Rock/Alternative Cover Band will be performing throughout the day. This event will also serve as a fund raiser for The Roanoke Valley Rescue Squad where they will have a $10 Raffle with 1st Prize being a 2011 H-D Sportster XL 883L, 2nd Prize is a Custom H-D Pig Cooker and 3rd Prize is a SNAP-ON Tool Box
