In 2016 the North Carolina Association for Colleges and Teacher Educators (NCACTE) initiated the Student Teacher of the Year Award.

Ryanne Hilliard (B.S. Mathematics Education, B.A. Mathematics) was selected to represent ECU in the 2018 awards process.

Ms. Hilliard was recently selected as one of 10 state finalists for the award. The winner will be announced at NCACTE’s Fall Forum in Raleigh, NC on Thursday, Oct 4, 2018.

Ms. Hilliard is currently teaching at Farmville Central High School in Pitt County, NC. In her own words, “Teaching is my passion. It is both an art and a science; creativity and innovation paired with knowledge and instruction. My teaching journey has exceeded my greatest expectations and provided me with opportunities to experience and implement powerful teaching that impacts the lives of students.”

Ryanne Hilliard is a Halifax Academy Alumni Class of 2014 and East Carolinia Universery Alumni Class of 2018. She is the daughter of Blake and Anne Hilliard of Gumberry.
