The Roanoke Rapids High School Lady Yellow Jackets Varsity softball team continued their winning streak Saturday wining both games in Halifax Academy's softball tournament. 

In game one of the day, the Lady Yellow Jackets sailed to an easy victory over Cape Fear Christian Academy 14-2.

Roanoke Rapids got on the board in the first inning. Roanoke Rapids scored two runs when Kalissa Williams homered. Then the Lady Yellow Jackets put up six runs in the fourth inning. Lauren Garner and Karlee Hammack all moved runners across the plate with RBIs in the inning.

Williams took the win for the Lady Yellow Jackets allowing three hits and two runs over five innings, striking out nine and walking one.

Roanoke Rapids launched two home runs on the day. Hammack had a long ball in the fourth inning. Williams had a four bagger in the first inning. Roanoke Rapids tallied 12 hits on the day. Garner, Logan Storey, Hammack, and Williams all had multiple hits for the Lady Yellow Jackets. Garner went 3-for-4 at the plate to lead Roanoke Rapids in hits. 

 

In game two of the day, Logan Storey threw a gem for Roanoke Rapids, allowing zero runs and besting Southampton Academy by a score of 11-0.

Roanoke Rapids Lady Yellow Jackets secured the victory thanks to six runs in the first inning. Karlee Hammack, Sue Odom, Kaysie Summerlin, Alana Mitchell, and Meredith Wilson powered the big inning with RBIs.

Roanoke Rapids Varsity Yellow Jackets got things moving in the first inning, when an error scored one run for the Lady Yellow Jackets.

Storey was the winning pitcher for Roanoke Rapids. Storey went five innings, allowing zero runs on three hits, striking out four and walking zero.

Roanoke Rapids tallied ten hits. Lauren Garner, Odom, and Mitchell all had multiple hits for the Lady Yellow Jackets. Mitchell, Odom, and Garner all had two hits to lead Roanoke Rapids. Roanoke Rapids didn't commit a single error in the field. Garner had the most chances in the field with five.

The Lady Yellow Jackets improve to 2-0 for the season and travel to Franklinton Tuesday.
